Honey Garlic Chicken with Rice
In just 20 minutes, you can achieve the perfect balance of savoury and sweet with this easy weeknight honey garlic chicken. Tender chicken breast coated in a delicious, sticky glaze of Banksia honey, paired with the subtle saltiness of soy sauce.
Ingredients
- 500 g chicken breast (boneless and skinless)
- salt and pepper
- 1/4 cup flour
- 50 g unsalted butter
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/3 cup Bee Bold Banksia Honey
Instructions
- Slice each chicken breast in half horizontally to create four thin steaks. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Place the flour in a shallow dish and lightly coat each piece of chicken, shaking off any excess.
- Heat most of the butter (about 40 g) in a large skillet over medium-high heat, reserving the remaining butter for the sauce.
- Add the chicken and cook for 2–3 minutes on the first side until golden. Turn and cook for a further 1–2 minutes, until just cooked through.
- Reduce the heat slightly to medium and keep the chicken in the pan.
- Push the chicken to one side of the pan. Add the remaining butter and garlic, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and honey. Stir gently (or swirl the pan) to combine.
- Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer and cook for 1–2 minutes, until slightly thickened and glossy.
- Turn the chicken through the sauce to coat well. If the sauce thickens too much, add a small splash of water to loosen.
- Remove from heat immediately. Plate the chicken and spoon over the remaining honey glaze.
- Serve with steamed rice or your grain of choice.
