Crispy, spicy and perfectly sweet. This homemade salami pizza combines fiery chilli flakes, stretchy mozzarella and spicy salami. Add a generous drizzle of Australian honey and you've got the ultimate sweet-and-spicy flavour combination.
Ingredients
Pizza Dough
- 7 g dried yeast (1 sachet)
- 250 ml lukewarm water
- 1 tsp Bee Warm Macadamia Honey
- 2 2/3 cup bread flour or pizza flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Topping
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 6-8 slices spicy sopressa salami
- 150 g mozzarella cheese (grated)
- 100 g bocconcini (torn)
- 1/2 cup kalamata olive, (pitted and halved)
- 2 tsp chilli flakes
- 2 tbsp Bee Warm Macadamia Honey
- basil leaves
Instructions
- Combine the water, yeast and honey together in a heatproof jug. Set aside for 5 minutes, until slightly foamy or aromatic
- Place the flour and salt in a large bowl and make a well in the centre. Pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir from the centre, gradually incorporating the flour until a rough dough forms.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with cling wrap or a clean tea towel. Set aside in a warm place for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 250–275°C, or as hot as your oven will go.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently deflate it. Divide into two portions, then stretch or roll each portion into a pizza base.
- Transfer the dough to a pizza pan, stone or paddle. Spread each base with ¼ cup pizza sauce. Sprinkle over 1 teaspoon chilli flakes per pizza and drizzle each pizza with 1 tablespoon Beechworth Honey. Top evenly with the mozzarella, bocconcini, soppressa and olives.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, rotating halfway through, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling. Remove from the oven and, if desired, finish with an additional light drizzle of honey.
- Scatter over the fresh basil leaves, slice and serve immediately.
Tips
- For extra favour, allow the dough to slowly rise in the refrigerator overnight, then bring to room temperature before shaping.
- If using a pizza stone or steel, place it in the oven while it preheats for a crispier crust.

Bee Warm Macadamia Honey Jar 350g
Macadamia Honey is a rich pale amber to medium amber colour with sweet honey aromas and complex flavours of malt and caramel. It can be intensely sweet to taste but finishes with savoury tones. Macadamia Honey will slowly begin to form small individual crystals from the bottom of the jar.
