Botanical Information
Mugga Ironbark (Eucalyptus sideroxylon) is a distinctive eucalypt species renowned for its tough, dark bark and elegant blooms that grace the winter landscape. Beekeepers benefit from the nectar surplus that exceeds what local fauna can consume. The abundant nectar is meticulously converted by honeybees into thick, buttery honey.

A key biodiversity area and home to countless bird and animal species, the Pilliga Forest features a beautiful and complex ancient landscape where warm winter sunshine coaxes large, drooping Ironbark blossoms to open, producing an abundance of nectar for local forest fauna and honeybees.
